I have installed the Oracle 11g in my Windows 8 but still when I try to use it I end up getting the error as “Error:ORA-01034: ORACLE not available”.

What will be the fix which can help to come out of this problem in my Windows 8 laptop?

Usually ORA-01034 error termed to be a common one in the Oracle Community because it mesn that your database is down and not started. So the first thing which you need to check is if the database is started in your Windows 8 system. If that's done then probably you can try checking the below points to resolve the issue,

-> There is not enough space for SGA (System Global Area). Recheck and make enough space if not.

-> System variable defined int he Operating System is not proper.

-> Check if the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID properly matches.

-> Make sure that the ORACLE_OME is set to the 'old' home and not 'new' home.

Hopefully the above steps might help you to fix the issue. If not try to get the support directly from oracle to resolve this issue. Visit -
